It's worth noting that people wanting to use a metalmind aren't necessarily going to know how to use one. Perhaps a non-feruchemist trying to use an unkeyed metalmind must make a spirit roll, or spend advancements to learn the secret themselves, or both, or you could make it so complicated that no one will attempt it!

*succeeds in a spirit 5 roll*
*spends 4 AP to learn secret of unkeyed metalminds*
*succeeds in a wits 5 roll to know which coin the metalmind is*
*succeeds in another spirit 5 roll just because*
*taps into the metalmind, learns that it's bendalloy*
Hero: "No, sorry, you have to do all the steps again if you want to try a different metalmind."

Ha ha no I wouldn't make it anywhere near that complicated. If Lorien simply took a bit of time to explain things then that should be enough. Maybe I'd ask for a spirit roll if it was something new and unexpected and needed to be done in haste.
