I've never actually narrated with animals of any sort (including wolf hounds) in the mix, so I'm going to refrain from commenting on the actual mechanics.

But in the MAG, yes they are treated as props.

I would even say I would have to spend an action to tell one or more wolf hounds to do something. I think having a list of commands is a good idea.

Your idea for default defense is a good compromise too, though maybe there can be a 'reckless attack' where they don't defend at all.

On the too many actions per round, the reason I think it would work well for this adventure is that A. wolfhounds will be useful during the planning stage (tracking, etc) and B. since it was going to be more leading an army, Wolfhounds might just end up giving bonuses in a fight or something. Does that make sense?

Again, if you don't want to deal with the overhead, I'm totally willing to go a different direction.

Honestly, I think we might be overthinking the wolfhound thing. Just treat them like any other Extras.

Yeah I'd probably treat them as extras under the PCs control.

In the interests of moving forward, I will do that, but I am also gonna try to brainstorm some functional rules in case Bobby ever wants an actual character like this.

I know I'm dragging my feet; work is simply nuts. Starting Thursday things will calm down enough for me get to some serious work here.

At a quick eyeball, it seems like the people interested in trying this, are more interested in army v army. Will the planned set-piece battles/conflicts/challenges be enough to sate your desire for that, Hero?

No worries, work has been crazy for me as well, so I've only been able to do little posts here and there on the site.

And I'm fine with the army vs army take on things, I have some ideas for how to work it with my character.

I actually have my character pretty much fleshed-out in my head, I'm just holding off on revealing details until we get the stage set a little bit more because the "reveal" will be fun. ;)

I would love to join as well! Also, I like the armies versus armies idea. I already kinda have a character planned out, but need to go reread both MAG and Alloy of Law. (Nerds out trying to create the most op character)
Also, do we start out with a certain amount of AP? and what are the house rules?

Edit : I think i would like to play a zinc compounder, also, i have no idea what everyone else's ideas for their characters, but planned to have the smart, planner/leader type. My guy wouldn't do much fighting.

Welcome, Conquestor!

What do people feel about AP? Again, I plan to be reactionary, so if you start with Advancements, I'll make the armies tougher, too.

Today is my last impossible day; tomorrow is only half impossible. If I have enough energy when the conference finally ends at 2pm, and/or if I lose my battle of wills and end up chugging that entire 2L of Coca-Cola, I will try to get some work done on this then. If not, Friday for sure.

I like starting with a little AP to work with, but I'm not picky as to how much.

As far as AP, I'm pretty easy either way.

I've already mentioned that I'm planning to play a gunsmith character, but I did have a few more thoughts on background since then. My character is a homesteader, determined to carve out a living out in the Roughs. Being relatively far away from Elendel and mainstream civilization, he became something of a tinkerer by necessity. Things break down, and getting a specialist out to repair anything would be both time-consuming and expensive, so he learned to do it himself. When his hunting rifle jammed while attempting to supplement his crops with wild game, he turned his tinkering to his weapon, and found that many of the principles he learned fixing up his old house and farm equipment applied to repairing and improving the rifle. Now that the homestead has been destroyed by the koloss horde, he plans to ensure that the good folk of Terionin are equipped with proper weaponry to give themselves a fighting chance.

I'll still have to figure out exactly what I want mechanically, but I'm glad to have at least the backstory/personality in place in my head.
