The boss seems suitably impressed by you, and he tells you that you're both hired. He also tells you that you're going to get treated slightly better than the rest of the workers seeing as you decided to join yourselves instead of being made to, but neither of you are paying that much attention after the brief surge of relief you felt upon learning that you were hired. The feeling of quiet dread lingers, even after you are taken out of The Boss' presence. Chaff in particular seems extremely subdued, due to the resurgence of traumatic memories from his childhood. You are taken to the bunkhouse where you'll be sleeping and told you'll be going to work at 5 the next morning and to do whatever you feel like until then. One of the guards says something ominous about your "Last day of freedom" as they leave.
Chaff looks around the bunkhouse. It's cramped, the air is stuffy, and it smells. He'd expected nothing less.
Chaff flops down on his assigned bunk and closes his eyes. He feels strangely exhausted after his meeting with The Boss. Maybe Kurz would do something productive with their "last day of freedom," but Chaff can't summon the motivation to do much of anything.
Putting my not-very-relevant comments in OOC:
Conquestor wrote:Evhar finally makes it to what he believes are the gates opposite to were Mr. Burn approached from, and starts yelling at any guards that are, well, guarding the gate.
I assume "Mr. Burn" is Chaff. Maybe Evhar could make some business cards for The Scorchers to hand out to people: "Mr. Burn: Anarchy, Arson, and Murder, for an Affordable Price! Talk to your local malcontents for more info."
Chaff hears someone yelling in the distance. It's probably that Palsten kid, finally. Chaff wonders if the Luck Compounder is charming enough to prevent the guards from shooting him on the spot. Was that what Conquestor's Charm roll (Result of 3, IIRC) accomplished? i.e. not being attacked by the guards?
So... Chaff lost a Beat because of his Tragedy, so I don't think I'd be able to do anything to help Conquestor anyways. If it takes longer than a single Beat for Evhar to get hired, though, I'd like for Chaff to be near enough to act.

but be careful. You don't know what kind of metalborn might be among the guards or even the servants!
Chaff suddenly remembers that they were supposed to leave some sort of signal for Bren. He grumbles, then swings his feet off the bunk and makes his way outside. Chaff looks for a comfortable place to stand around for 15 minutes so the young bandit can see him. He'll nod slowly, as if drowsy, and hopefully Bren will understand the signal and know that Chaff and Kurz had succeeded in infiltrating the mine. Possible chance for Cabochard to take an action...?
