Thank You

Post by Tecslicer » Sun Dec 08, 2013 3:46 am

I've just added a "Thank you" button to the site. Now if there is a great post or a really important post that everybody needs to recognise, you can click the little thumbs up button and thank that person for posting it.
The icons and the name need work but I'm open to suggestions on that. "like this post"? "+1"? "Spike this post"? "Give this post a breath"?

What are your thoughts? How can the things look better? Do you like my sweater?

I don't see the button to thank. Either I'm just missing things or currently only admins have the permission set for it.

I can see it. It's a little "thumbs up" icon to the right of "Quote".

Strange, I don't have it. Maybe it has something to do with mods permissions. Actually, what am I doing, I'll go take a look :P

OK, weird. I didn't find anything to indicate why I can't see the button. I wonder if anyone else will have the same problem.

(As a side note, having only Yes and Never feels weird, the only other time I've had access to the admin stuff there was Yes, No and Never and no meant what never seems to here. Never meant truly never, regardless of what other groups they were in (to my memory anyway). Anyway, just interesting.

How about something like "give investiture"?

I don't see any thumbs up either.

"Give Investiture" might be too geeky even for us.

I think "Like this post" covers it well enough.

One thing: I rather dislike the existence of a "Has thanked: X time(s)" counter. That may just be bias leaking over from Rep on 17s, though.

Also no, I do not see any icon.

@Kurk, I wouldn't find give investiture too geeky, but it would annoy me that we were using numbers of unspecified quantities of investiture like that :P

How about, "Give Boxing?", hrm, ok maybe just like/thank/respect/similar.

I'm with you on the "has thanked: X times" counter. Having it in everyone's face how much everyone has been thanking others right next to how many times they have been thanked themselves is slightly too likely to generate ill-will and doesn't really add much.

I see the icon now. :)

Though of course now I have that issue with the online-user box... :(
