Pewter Endurance Question

A place to do whatever, out of character.

(This is a fine place to ask questions. You can also ask over at Crafty Games' forum for a slightly broader audience, plus sometimes you'll get an official answer from Crafty).

This is a fairly common question for new players. Any dice over a pool of 10 only get converted to free nudges when you're doing a Challenge or Contest. In a Conflict, any action dice over 10 automatically become defense dice. There's no limit to the number of defense dice you can have, but you may only roll up to 10 of them for each defense roll. If by some fluke you ended up with 100 action dice, you could use 10 of them for your action and the other 90 would become defense dice. They in turn would allow you to defend against 9 separate attacks that round with 10 dice for each defense.

It's actually pretty hard to get FREE nudges in combat. I made a list of the different ways once, but basically it comes down to tapping 5 charges of Feruchemy, being a Misting Savant, or a handful of specific stunts.

Can free nudges be converted to a beat or only by rolling six?

Nudges are nudges no matter where they come from, and 3+ of them can be spent to catch a beat.

So a feruchemist can easily catch a beat by tapping 15 charges?

Can a ferring with Gold 3 tap 30 gold and get addinational 30 health while at the same time regaining 1 health per minute
