Re: resource rolls: "Merchant Lord" definitely counts for adding a die. Some of the other traits might count as well depending on the situation.

No need to roll or spend any resources on a few leather straps, unless you're looking for a whole bunch of them. You can easily get a handful of short straps from the market, or from Shane's cart.

Wits + logistics to look at the defences of Strafe's camp. Also I'd like to look at Shane's person and see what he is wearing. Looking for clothes that I can awaken to attack him when needed.

4 wit + "Merchant Lord" I think ML has trained me to size up a person.

As far as Shane's clothing goes, allow me to refer you to the picture he posted in chapter 1:

Shane is wearing a formal suit fitting for a lesser nobleman or a successful Skaa merchant. The suit flares out at the waist and is loose enough to provide plenty of opportunities for awakening. The ascot (scarf thingy) in particular provides a prime opportunity for strangling Shane, if you so desired.
